Welcoming the MScFin (FinTech & Financial Analytics) Class of 2026!

The MSc in Finance (FinTech & Financial Analytics) Programme at Hong Kong Baptist University was delighted to welcome our new cohort during the Orientation Day held on 1 September 2026.

The event provided students with valuable insights into the resources, opportunities, and professional network that will support their learning journey. We were pleased to have representatives from the Mainland and Global Engagement Section (MGES) and the Career and Alumni Engagement Section (CAES) introduce the University's global learning and career development services.

Our Associate Programme Director, Dr. Archimedes Guerra, shared an overview of the programme and the exciting opportunities awaiting students in the rapidly evolving world of FinTech and financial analytics.

A highlight of the event was the alumni sharing by Mr. Turar Kametay (Class of 2025), now a Lead AI Engineer at Ringbook.io, who shared his experiences and career journey after graduation.

Students also learned about the Chartered Financial Technologist (CFT) qualification from Mr. Paul Pong, Founder of the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA), followed by an engaging industry panel discussion featuring:

  • Prof. Samson Tai, Professor of Practice, HKBU, and former Distinguished Engineer & Chief Technology Officer, IBM China/Hong Kong
  • Prof. Dorothy Chau, Associate Professor of Practice, HKBU, and SVP of Security Assurance & APAC Data Protection Officer at Crypto.com
  • Mr. Paul Pong, Managing Director, Pegasus Fund Managers Ltd.

The discussion offered valuable perspectives on emerging technologies, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and the future of the financial industry.
